Europe Baby!!!

So, get ready for a lot of pictures. We went to Europe in October and had an amazing time. Nothing beats no work for two weeks, being with Brandon all day and seeing some of the most beautiful places.

ISTANBUL, TURKEY:

This guy was trying his best to sell Brandon these necklaces. You can imagine how Brandon had him going. I felt bad for the guy.

So, I feel at times you can be so excited to see a new city or country and it just doesn't quite live up to its expectation. Not Turkey. Everything in Turkey is absolutely amazing. There is so much to see, so much detail and so much culture. I loved it.

ENGLAND:

Another thing that did not disappoint is seeing Wicked. We got great seats and I loved every minute of it. I still sing the songs every day.

We had the tiniest hotel room I have ever stayed in for one night in London. It was disgusting, small and soooo expensive.

We had such a good time with my brother and his family in Odiham. I miss these kids so much.

This store was AMAZING! It was filled with authentic, antique sewing machines. Brandon fell in love with the clothes. Someday maybe we can afford to buy something there.

It was interesting to learn about King Henry VIII. He seems like quite the ladies man. Brandon and I just watched The Other Boleyn Girl, which is all about one of his wives. I totally recommend it.

This was an amazing spice store. The building has never been renovated and it's been around for hundreds of years.

This was the best meal I have ever eaten. I find myself daydreaming about this food often.

We went on this amazing architecture tour with our guide Christina. We started at 10am, ended at 6pm and only sat down once.

Seattle

We were able to go to our favorite place in the world, Seattle, with some of our favorite people in the world, the Sato's. I can't say more about this amazing city. The first night we got there it was like Christmas morning for me walking around that city. Hopefully someday we will have an excuse to live there for awhile.

We got to stay in the cutest little beach house in the tiny little town of Westport. Besides the fact that they only had Pepsi products and no Coke it was a great place.

Brandon and Sato rented some equipment to go crabbing. This picture is a perfect portrayal of the experience; Sato diligently trying to get the bait in the crab net while Brandon sits back and enjoys a juicy nectarine. Just kidding Bran, you worked very hard too.

So, you put the nasty fish head in this crab net and throw it off the dock and let it sit for awhile before you pull it up. That is unless a seal comes and tries to eat it! There was this gigantic seal that jumped up right next to us to try to get the fish! It scared us all so much, I'm surprised no one fell in the water.

They ended up actually catching something! This is the poor guy that got eaten that night at dinner....

I guess our measly crabs weren't enough because we ended up getting this huge feast the next day.

Brandon and I had a day to ourselves in the city. This is the outside of the SAM (Seattle Museum of Art). We have been meaning to go there the last few times we've been, but finally just got the chance. It was the coolest museum!

Seattle is all about music and there was this awesome exhibit of Kurt Cobain.

We had a fabulous time in San Diego for Josh and Erika Riddell's wedding. It was at the most beautiful hotel at Torrey Pines. We've been lucky enough to have a lot of our close friends get married outside of Salt Lake this last year. It gives us the best excuse to go on a trip!

Alex threw an awesome Kentucky Derby party on Saturday complete with Mint Juleps and Derby Pie. We all dressed up in our southern finest and cheered on the races. I bet on Cyndi's Candy and he was in 2nd for part of the race, but ended up being second to last!!!

I definitely think I should have gotten a price for best hat (i am in the middle).

We had an awesome weekend in San Diego for Tiff and Sato's wedding. Everything went beautifully. They were married in the San Diego temple on Friday and then had a dinner at a cool pizza joint afterwards and then dessert on top of our friend Josh Riddell's roof downtown. Tiff looked so beautiful. These two are made for each other and we couldn't be happier for them.

I have felt like life has gotten too big and crazy to keep blogging the last few months, plus there is Brandon's blog that keeps everyone up to date on our life. But, I feel like I owe it to this blog to make a post. I guess whenever I log on I get too overwhelmed to post anything, feeling like I need to say something deep or profound, but I'm just not going to. Life is great, Brandon is great, we are happy.

It is owned by two fabulous designers who I absolutely love. They are incredibly talented. I love watching them work and create beautiful things. A few weeks late, but I had to post about our fabulous trip to Catalina Island for New Years. We stayed in our friend's condo with friends and had so much fun. Here are a few pictures that summed up the trip.

I got tagged by Lindsay Redd Hogan. The rules are I have to look in the fourth folder in my pictures and pick the fourth picture. I laughed at the picture Lindsay did. What an awesome trip!

The best part is that my picture comes from the same trip! This is Sara Jane, Lindsay, Alex and I (Stina was taking the picture!) arriving from the States to Italy. I think this is a few seconds before Alex realized she had left her wallet in the airport in Atlanta. Luckily we had another friend who was going to be in the same city as us a few days later with his family so he brought it to her. Oh Alex. This really was one of the most fun trips I have ever been on! I love you girls!

We have been quite the travelers the past few weeks. This last weekend we went to Oakland, California with Brandon's family for Brandon's brother's wedding. It was a wonderful wedding. We are excited to have Laurel be a new addition to family.

We were able to accomplish another one of Brandon's dreams this weekend. He has always been a Raiders fan and we went to a game. It was quite the experience. We had to be body searched by security before entering the stadium. I literally did not feel safe walking around the stadium by myself. Even Brandon felt a little nervous. It was so fun though.

A few weeks ago Brandon and I went up to Seattle to visit family, have fun, shop and......go to the Counting Crows concert!!! It was such an awesome trip. We love, love, love Seattle and if everything go as planned we will hopefully be living there in the next few years.

There is a semi new park called the Olympic Park in the city. It is awesome! It consists of people donating money to build crazy sculptures or donating their own crazy sculptures. We loved it.

Here we are at the concert! Brandon's favorite band has always been Counting Crows, but he had never seen them in concert so as soon as he found out they were going on tour, maybe for the last time, we took the opportunity to see them in our favorite city. They played with Maroon 5 and Augustana opened for them. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. We both loved it. Brandon was like a little kid in a candy store he was so excited.

We moved into our new condo a few weeks ago and we are loving it! I never thought I would appreciate an efficient heating and air conditioning unit as much as I do now. We have been in a bit of a mess for the past few weeks, but it is slowly coming together. I went to Ikea last weekend with my awesome mother in-law, Bobbi, and we picked out a few goodies for the place. Here is a pic of the funky chair we picked out. Our condo is pretty modern so it fits in well.

My Birthday!!!!!

We went up to Brighton to walk around and there was still three feet of snow everywhere! You'd think at the first of June it would have been melted by then.

Haley left on her mission! I can't believe she is gone already. I miss her so much and already am counting down the days to her return. She is doing so great though and will be such a wonderful missionary. We had a fun last week of hanging out, watching movies and t.v., lots of dinners and breakfasts and bowling.

Newport with the Plewes! We had so much fun on our trip with Brandon's family. We spent most the time on the beach, reading, watching movies and eating a lot!

We made sand animals. Well, they made sand animals and I took pictures.

Our good friend Josh Riddell got us some tickets to the Padres game. It was so much fun to see him and we can't wait for him to come to Salt Lake again soon.

Last night I went to one of the concerts I promised myself a long time ago I would never miss if they ever came to Salt Lake. Missy Higgins is one of my all time favorite singers. Honestly, she has gotten me through some hard times. It was so fun to go with Haley (the founder of Missy) and Brandon. She played with Brett Dennen and Mason Jennings. It was so fun. She sounds great live which I think truly shows a singers talent.

Yesterday was Remington's, Brandon's brother, 17th birthday. I can believe he's 17 already. When Brandon and I first started dating Rem was 5 foot and 95 lbs. at 14 and now he is so tall! A bunch of his friends came over to the Plewe's while Rem was out and about and put a thousand Fire sauce packets from Taco Bell in his room. They were everywhere! In the vents, in all his shoes, around the door frames even in DVD cases! It was pretty funny. It's a good thing Rem loves Taco Bell so much. He says he uses about 4 or 5 packets of sauce per taco! We love you Rem.

Today is my oldest brother's birthday. I think he is turning 33? I can't believe I have 2 brothers that are in their 30's! What oldies. Andy is an awesome brother. He has 4 incredible kids that we all love so much. He was the first to teach me to drive, he has been all over the world and he's even worked at Outback Steakhouse! Yes, he is pretty cool. I've had quite a few people tell me they are sick of wishing my dad a happy birthday, so I thought I'd better hurry and post something new. Linds, this is for you, you better post some pics of your house now.

This is where we live as of right now. We LOVE it! It is on the cutest street, in the cutest neighborhood. It is a house converted into 3 apartments. We live right next door to our dope-show landlords (shout out to Darryl and Louise!!!), so if anything goes wrong, which it does in a really old house like this they get right on it.

After much searching and not a lot of success in the Avenues we ran across this little number on the couples board at the Institute. It is a great place to find housing, fyi. Brandon moved in a month before we got married and now we've been living together for the past two months. The only down side is that it has electric heating and that pretty much has run us broke. We turned the heat off and it still was an $85 electric bill! Are you kidding? But, all that aside we love it because it is ours.

Kitchen: As you'll notice we don't have very much cabinet space to store all of our wedding gifts. We got this bakers rack at Costco and it does the trick.

My favorite room in the house. We painted the walls before Brandon moved in and I love them! We love our new bed and night stands. Thanks parents for the great wedding gifts!

I wanted to show this view of our room to show you all the tree of life. This is my favorite accessory in our house. It is the first thing Bran and I bought together.

I wouldn't normally post a picture of our bathroom, but I had to show you the exposed brick wall and neat window.

This is our laundry room. We only have 2 closets in the entire place, and for two people who have a lot of clothes, this poses a problem. We've found ways to improvise though.

There is one more room in the back, but it is an odds and ends room and not that exciting.

Well, after all that I guess I better tell you that we are moving! I am really, really sad about it, but it will be for the best. We are moving into a new condo up on Foothill Drive that Brandon managed the construction on. They are way nice and we are getting a sweet deal. The utilities in the place we are now make rent way more than we can afford. I am really sad to be leaving this place that we have worked so hard to put together, but excited at the thought of moving into something new.

Yesterday was my dad's birthday. He and my mom flew off to California for the big day. Of course my dad took the initiative to do something nice for my mom on his own birthday. He planned a really fun trip with lots of surprises for her. What a great guy. My dad is the most amazing person and these are the reasons why....

1- He has more shoes than my entire family combined
2- He works harder than anyone I know

3- He is the best 1st counsilor in an adult singles ward. He puts so much effort into it and everyone loves him there. Sometimes I think the women in the ward love him too much...

4- He has such a great laugh and I have been told I have the same laugh.

5- He travels like no one else can believe.

6- He is incredibly generous and never wants the credit.

7- He does SO much for our family.

8- He loves shopping for my mom (Brandon, you should follow his example)

9- He is an art buff. He has an incredible art collection that we all want. Some of my siblings have even gone so far as to put our names on sticky notes and sticking them to the back of the paintings. Of course, I am not guilty of that...

10- He is so supportive of everything I do.

Upcoming Travels

As a lot of you know, traveling is a passion both for Brandon and me. We love it. We would much rather not eat much for a few weeks to save for a fun trip. We have a lot of really fun adventures coming up this summer and fall....

In June we are going to Newport Beach for a week with Brandon's family. We can't wait for warm weather and beach time. Not only are we going in June, but also in August with my family! I am so psyched. My extended family orignially began going to Laguna Beach, Cali. every years for 20 years until Crab (nickname for the landlord of the beach houses we stayed in) sold out and turned the beach houses into a drug rehab center! You heard me right...a Drug Rehab! My precious childhood memories are nothing more than a bunch of druggies.

After that happened we started going with the SLC trend and staying in Newport, Jackie Doyle's place to be exact. It is still a ton of fun. Brandon makes fun of me all the time because if we don't do all our Newport family traditions I can get pretty stressed out.

I might also be going to Huntington with my high school friends in June. Hopefully it works out! Senior Trip 2004 reunion! Here I come!

Next trip on the docket is our favorite city in the whole world. Never mind Rome, Florence or Zermatt...We're going to Seattle!!! We both love this place. It is the perfect blend of urban fun, but it isn't too big where you feel like you are just another person in a sea of buildings. We first went to Seattle together when we began dating. Brandon has an aunt and uncle that live up there so we have a free place to stay. We are going to Seattle in Sept. for a specific reason though.....the Counting Crows concert! Brandon was soooo excited that they are going on tour again, probably for the last time. Counting Crows is his favorite band of all time and I really love them too. They aren't coming to SLC so we decided to make a trip out of it and go to seattle. It will be so much fun.

Our last planned trip is our most exciting. This october we are going to CHINA!!! Brandon is getting his MBA at Westminny and part of the program is going on an international trip to study their ways of business. And I get to go too!!! Well, hopefully. There is a waiting list for spouses, but I'm on it and think I have a pretty good chance. China is a place I never thought I would actually get to go to, but I am so glad that Brandon has to. It will be somewhere totally new for us. Maybe we'll even make a side trip to Japan to seek out Haley!

I think that is all that is going on in the next few months besides a few camping trips and maybe a fun climbing trip with our friends. We can't wait!

Saturday was Brandon's 26th birthday. It was such a fun day packed with all sorts of activities. We woke up bright and early and ran the Salt Lake City 1/2 Marathon. It was so much fun. We love to train for these together. Our runs are about the only time we get to hang out with our busy schedules. We didn't finish with record speed (2 hours 22 minutes) but it was pretty good for us. It was really cool because we finished right behind the marathon winner. Everyone starting cheering and it got really loud, it felt like it was all for us. We can pretend. After the race both our families went to breakfast at the Market Street Grill. It is so fun that our families are friends and like to hang out together.

After breakfast we got massages (If you don't know about this place, check out the Healing Mountain Massage School, it is a school like Utah College of Massage Therapy, but is soooo much better. You get your own private room and the students are better I think. A 70 minute massage is only $25!)

We then went to Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch and only waited 40 minutes! Ridiculous I think. We then spent the rest of the day watching movies and yes, eating again. It was a great day. Happy Birthday Bran!

I feel like I haven't given the proper shout out to my two new nephews. Life has been so crazy with all these new babies. Now, all my siblings have babies and I have none. I thought I was catching up to them by getting married. Nick and Shannon had Jonathan Adams Crockett, Jack, last October. Jack is sooo cute. He is best known for his long hair and cute face. Jack visited for our wedding and that is the only time I've seen him in person! It is really hard to have family live so far away.

Tait Beckham Larsen, Beckham, was our newest baby before Grace. Nikki and Tait are so excited to have their first baby. They are wonderful parents and have taken on the responsibility with ease. Beckham and I are buds. I see him almost everyday. He is the spitting image of Tait and has red hair and fair skin! People are wondering if it is actually Brandon's baby! Who would have thought. He has been such a blessing in our family. We love you all!

We want to welcome our new baby niece, Gracie, into the world! She is so beautiful and we are so excited to have her here. Mindy was induced yesterday morning and after sitting around all day the nurse finally came in and checked her and decided she was way ready and five minutes later she was here. She has dark, dark hair, almost black and the most beautiful big eyes. We love you Grace! More pictures to come!

I have been reflecting back on my amazing group of high school friends that I absolutely love and adore. I wish I see you guys more often and I am way psyched for our Newport reunion in June!!! Thanks for all the cruising, sleepovers, psc-ing, traveling, long hours at the Teepee and scootering to school. I love you all! (Sorry I don't have more pictures of all of you, unfortunately I didn't get a digital camera until after high school)

Okay, okay, so i know I am really bad at blogging. It is like journal writing all over again! every week I think, "I need to write in my journal," but every week it feels like a task all too big. But, my cute friend Caity James' blog inspired me.
So.....married life is great. It has been a total of 5 1/2 weeks and life just keeps getting better. Everyone keeps asking what has been the most unexpected thing about marriage? But, honestly, after 2 1/2 years of dating, there aren't many surprises. Maybe that Brandon loves to sleep on my side of the bed and I frequently have to push him over in the night, but that's really it.
We're just living the dream. We went to Mexico on our honeymoon. It was beautiful and I will be posting pictures soon I promise. Since then we've been to california with some friends and this weekend we are spending it up in Park City. We have always had a hard time staying in Salt Lake too long. I think our parents worry about us a little, but I figure, we don't have kids so why stay home?! I love our life!

I'm new to the blogging world, but since I sit around and look at other people's blogs all day at work I thought I should probably start my own.

Things are pretty crazy right now with getting married being 2 weeks and 2 days away. I can't even believe it. But, I'm sure I will miss all the craziness once life gets back to normal so I am trying to enjoy it while it lasts!
